Making Apple Pie in the Classroom
As part of learning about life cycles and apples, this Friday morning, Sept. 28, at 9:30, we will be making apple pies in the classroom. Each table group will be making their own. We will need several tabletop apple peelers.  If you have one that you would be willing to share, please let us know and drop it off in the classroom asap so we can get a count.
Parents....we will need some volunteers that day to help with this activity, and also be willing to take a couple of pies home to bake, and then return the pies in the afternoon. Please send us an email, or let us know if you would be willing to help.  Thank you in advance!
We couldn't do it without you!

Weekly Reading Homework

This week, in your child's Friday Folder, (and every week from here on) you should have received a blue Home Reading Log. The students will need to read each night (100 minutes/weekly), fill out the log, have a parent sign it, and return it the following Friday, with their Spelling Contract and math homework in their Homework Folder.

The students should be reading books at their independent reading level. This helps build fluency and gain confidence.  You may read to them occasionally and record those minutes, as well. Shortly, they will have an AR (Accelerated Reader) goal to meet, so you may want them to read AR books at home, to help them meet or exceed their goal.

If you have any questions, please let us know.
